Recreation Coordinator
The Recreation Coordinator at Homeward Bound is responsible for coordinating, and ensuring the execution of, recreational calendars and activities at all Homeward Bound residential locations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and manage recreational calendars for each home.
- Develop and maintain a repository of information and community partnerships regarding local events and activities that occur weekly, monthly, seasonally, and annually.
- Assist house management with planning, budgeting, and preparing for home and community activities such as camp, vacations, and community events.
- Develop and maintain recordkeeping and reporting system to track participation, progress and feedback from individuals, family and staff.
- Maintain open and professional communication with Program Managers, Nurse Case Managers, Operations Administrators, staff, families and guardians regarding upcoming events and encourage participation.
- Train and advise house staff on successful activity and event planning methods.
- Assist the Development Team with volunteer coordination, as needed.
- Coordinate and assist with transportation needs for attending events, as needed.
Qualifications (required)
- Two years of experience event/activity planning required, preferably for people with developmental disabilities.
- Some post-secondary education preferred.

Valid Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable record required.

Willing and able to drive a large wheelchair accessible vehicle, up to the size of a small bus (no CDL req’d).
- Ability to lead and influence others to promote an atmosphere of fun and community inclusion.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent judgement, creative problem-solving, and adaptability.
- Optimistic demeanor.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
