Employee of the Month – September 2023
September 1, 2023
Enos Biwott was selected as Homeward Bound’s September Employee of the Month for his excellent care and support of those who call 36th home!
Several Operations Administrator told us, “Enos is great to work with and always has a positive attitude.” Recently Enos helped another Program Manager with an open weekend shift by working a direct care shift at 36th, so the floater that was scheduled could slide to another location. “He is a great team player.”
Enos started in this field in Marshall when he went from working in a nursing home to working with people with disabilities in a residential setting. He liked this change because it gave him the opportunity to work with a smaller group of people and build better relationships. When he moved to Minneapolis in 2017 he started at Homeward Bound as a DSP at Maple Grove because a friend referred him. He then transferred to 36th. When a Program Manager position opened up it was a natural transition for him to take on that role. Enos likes the relationships he has with the people he supports, the guardians, and his team. Everyone’s flexibility really makes the job easy.
When asked what makes this job fun, Enos said “working as a team.” He enjoys talking to the people he supports and talking about things that make them happy and make them smile. He also likes to listen to music with Leon and go shopping with Bob and Patrick.
Enos’ advice to anyone new to working with people with disabilities is to get to know the people and their guardians. Build trust with them so they know their relatives are being well taken care of. If you are passionate about what you do, you will succeed. The number one piece of advice Enos would give someone new to the field is to be consistent. Learn and follow the routines of the people you support. Help them live their best lives.
Thank you, Enos!
Enos received a $1000 bonus and is a candidate for the 2023 Employee of the Year Award!
Homeward Bound’s Employee of the Month Program started in January 2023 by popular demand from staff who shared ideas and concerns with HBI management at town hall meetings in Fall 2022. The selection process is done via blind voting to ensure that the winner is selected only for the exceptional life-enriching care they provide to people.
