Employee of the Month – October 2023
October 1, 2023
Linet Moseti was selected as Homeward Bound’s October Employee of the Month for her excellent care and support of those who call Brooklyn Park home!
Lisa, Director of Nursing, told us Linet is a superstar. “She really cares about the people she supports. She is great to work with and always has a positive attitude”. When a new person moved in recently, Linet made sure everything went smooth and was a great advocate for her. Linet is always willing to help and do whatever needs to be done to ensure the people she supports receive the best care.
Linet has always liked working with people. In Africa, she cared for her dad until he passed. When she moved to the states, she wanted to help others as she had helped her father. She started working in a nursing home. While there, she saw that the people with disabilities who lived there were set aside and not cared for in the same way as the other residents of the facility. She became their advocate and made sure they received the same care as everyone else. Linet then learned she could work in a place where everyone supported had disabilities and in 2014, she started working at Homeward Bound.
Linet started at Homeward Bound as a DSP. She was going back to school and liked the flexibility the job offered as well as ability to take advantage of the scholarship program that we offer. She attended school, earned her LPN, and transitioned into a nursing position in 2017. By 2018, she was a Nurse Case Manager and in 2021, she became a Nursing Supervisor, which is her current role.
Linet’s advice to anyone new to working with people with disabilities is that it takes patience. “It might feel overwhelming in the beginning, but with a little time and getting to know people, it is very rewarding”.
Thank you, Linet!
Linet received a $1000 bonus and is a candidate for the 2023 Employee of the Year Award!
Homeward Bound’s Employee of the Month Program started in January 2023 by popular demand from staff who shared ideas and concerns with HBI management at town hall meetings in Fall 2022. The selection process is done via blind voting to ensure that the winner is selected only for the exceptional life-enriching care they provide to people.
