Disability Services Day at the Capitol 2026 Recap
April 3, 2026
Advocacy matters—and this year at the Capitol, that message was impossible to miss.
Alongside partners, advocates, and individuals who rely on disability services, we gathered for Disability Services Day at the Capitol during ARRM’s #DACMN2026.
Throughout the day, our team met directly with legislators to share stories and discuss urgent challenges facing disability services. Conversations with leaders like Senator Ron Latz and Representatives Cedrick Frazier, Freiberg, and Condon reinforced a critical truth. Policy decisions have real, everyday impacts.
A key concern echoed across discussions was the risk of proposed service reductions. These cuts don’t happen in isolation. They affect providers, strain an already challenged workforce, and limit access to essential supports.
But the day was about more than challenges. It was about showing up.
Residents and staff shared their experiences and reminded lawmakers that disability services are not abstract. They are essential.
People with disabilities are more than a waiver.
They are neighbors, coworkers, leaders, and community members who deserve systems that fully support their lives.
At the Capitol
We were proud to meet with legislators throughout the day, continuing important conversations about the future of disability services in Minnesota.
These conversations are critical. They ensure decision-makers understand how policies directly affect people, providers, and communities across the state.

It was especially meaningful to see individuals served actively participating in advocacy efforts, sharing their experiences and perspectives firsthand.
The energy throughout the Capitol made it clear that this work is bigger than any one organization. It is a shared effort across communities, providers, and advocates statewide.
