2025 Impact & Our Vision for 2026

Dear HBI Friends,

In 2025, Homeward Bound continued on our path assisting individuals with disabilities in finding their voice and realizing their full potential. At HBI, a workforce of more than 282 employees and growing, provides round-the-clock care with active support that ensures the autonomy of every individual we serve is maintained and continuously growing.

In 2025, we engaged 232 volunteers in in-kind building and maintenance projects and another 53 volunteers as part of our recreation programs supporting our individuals.

Speaking of Recreation, in 2025 all of our residents who wanted to get involved with day programs did so. Outside of day programs, we partnered internally with our Homeward Bound Team to facilitate our own HBI sponsored recreational outing experiences in our communities. We offered more than 3,661 recreational opportunities impacting the lives of 81 unique individuals, and we are still planning some van rides to see the holiday lights around town before the end of the year.

That’s a huge contribution to the idea of active support, community integration, and our promise that people with disabilities who we support live lives that are meaningful, active in the present moment, and engaged in the world around them.

In 2026, we will launch Bound for Growth, our Homeward Bound Podcast with topics that showcase our internal field leading expertise and the Homeward Bound people behind those stories as well as highlighting some of our incredible third party partners who join HBI in accomplishing our mission including but not limited to master gardeners, software vendors, insurance underwriters, disability travel innovators and much, much more.

Our Chili Cook-off Fundraiser will be back this year on Friday, February 20th. Always a fan favorite, the Chili Cook-off gets competitive with a number of award categories on the line including the Golden Chili Pot. This event attracts hundreds of supporters, partners, and residents while raising funds to support our innovative programming throughout the year.

If you like events, you will love our 30th Annual Golf Classic and HBI Showcase in August 2026. The event will be bigger than ever in its 30th year and we hope to have something for everyone including great golf.
