Art Abilities - 2011
Sharing Talent with the Community
The 6th Annual Art Abilities Gallery event was held on Sunday October 23rd at the Ridgedale Library. There were 37 pieces of art showcased at the art opening. The event was attended by 60 people, artists, families and friends. Homeward Bound partnered with the Hennepin County Library, ARRM and Star Services to plan and execute this wonderful event celebrating the abilities of 30 Minnesota artists. The area artists are served by Homeward Bound, Harry Meyering Center, CCP - Cooperating Community Programs, REM - The Mentor Network, Opportunity Partners and Phoenix Alternatives.
We were privileged to have Jerry B. from Homeward Bound on hand to demonstrate his unique skill in painting with his mouth. Jerry completed two pieces during the art opening. We were also graced by a local musician who entertained us with the accordion. During the demonstration and music, the artists mingled with family and friends.
It was a wonderful event and would not have been possible without the support of the Hennepin County Library and the Friends of the Ridgedale Library. Thank you!
The art was displayed at the Ridgedale Library until November 16th and then moved on to the Changing Landscapes Art Show at the University of Minnesota. The art was displayed at the U of M in Pattee Hall until February 16, 2012.
We hope you were able to visit the Ridgedale Library or the U of M to see the beautiful artwork created by these talented individuals! More photos>>
